OET for ECFMG™ Certification
OET Medicine is the approved English language and communications skills test for International Medical Graduates applying for ECFMG certification. OET Medicine is designed specifically for physicians to assess healthcare specific English communications skills and is an essential step in ECFMG's Pathways program to certification.


OET process for ECFMG certification
Step 1 - Book your test
Choose from: OET on Paper at a test venue, OET on Computer at a test venue or OET@Home® (select candidates only).
Step 2 - Prepare for OET
Study using official OET preparation resources, including videos, guides, and free sample tests.
Step 3 - Test Day
You will sit OET on your test date, completing each of the four sub-tests.
OET abides by testing protocols that work to safeguard health and safety during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Step 4 - Receive Your Results
Your results will be published approximately 12 business days after test day.
Step 5 - Share your results
Give ECFMG™ access to your results through your OET account. OET on paper candidates only: Please also complete this form to advise us of your USMLE ID number.
