Below is a list of countries that recognise OET results as proof of English language proficiency.
Australia
The following organisations recognise OET on Test Paper and OET Test on Computer at a venue unless otherwise stipulated:
Government:
The Department of Home Affairs recognises OET for various visa categories including skilled migration and student visas.

For Australian visa purposes, visa applicants must attain the required score for each of the four components of the OET Test. Unlike other tests the Department of Home Affairs has approved for visas, visa applicants can provide OET Test results achieved in more than one test sitting.
For example, visa applicants can combine OET Test results from both a full test and one, two or three sub-tests to achieve the required scores. Scores across multiple test sittings can be submitted as long as the first full test was completed within three years of submitting a valid visa application.

- The requirements for obtaining a license to practice differ in each jurisdiction and are subject to change. Please ensure you are aware of the nursing licensing processes and requirements of the state/territory you're applying to.
- OET can be used as part of the following application processes for nursing licensure and occupational visas in the United States:
- License by examination — Initial application for a single-state nursing license from outside the United States. A successful application authorizes the candidate to sit the NCLEX test. Candidates who pass the NCLEX test are issued with a license, subject to other application conditions.
- License by endorsement — Application to transfer your US single-state or territory nursing license to another state or territory. This is usually completed post-arrival in the United States.
- Immigration application — Healthcare professionals seeking occupational visas in the US must complete Federal screening by obtaining a certificate that meets Visa credential assessment requirements. Two certificates are available: CGFNS Visascreen and Josef Silny Visa4Nurses.
- Please note that CGFNS and Josef Silny do not accept OET@Home results.
