Doctors, Nurses and other healthcare professionals who wish to ascertain their current level of English can now take OET Pulse, a healthcare-specific placement test developed by healthcare communication experts.
OET Pulse is a short online English language test that assesses test takers’ listening, reading and language knowledge, and provides results immediately. All scenarios in the test are healthcare-specific and the test is adaptive to make it more efficient and accurate. Results are expressed according to the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) scale.
Pulse is not designed to be an alternative to OET but as a pathway to candidates wanting to take OET. Upon completing Pulse, test-takers may either share their results with an English language school to assist the school in placing the learner in a language course of the appropriate level to help them achieve the desired results in OET. Alternatively, test-takers may study alone, following the OET preparation pathway provided to them along with their Pulse results.
Sujata Stead, CEO of OET, said:
“I am very excited to introduce OET Pulse. For some time now the market has been calling for a health-care specific placement test to assist both English teachers and test-takers in knowing an individual’s current level of English and what will be required to get them ready to take OET. Like our world-renowned OET test, Pulse has been developed to the highest of standards and with the input of healthcare communication experts.”
“The new online test is powered by Minerva Testing and we feel confident our candidates will be delighted with both the test experience and the insights their results provide.”
Simon Beeston, Principal Consultant at Minerva Testing added:
“It’s been hugely rewarding to work with the OET team and to see the OET Pulse product come to life on the Minerva platform. From online authoring through to delivery of the adaptive test, they have run a truly digital product development project and have created an excellent assessment product to take to their markets.”
OET Pulse is available from the online OET Shop on the OET website, with a special introductory price for one month only of AUD $15 (regular price is AUD $30).
